Amy Macdonald
This is the Life
- Amy Macdonald’s album “This is the Life” is a mix of folk, pop, and rock, if I am to set it in some sort of genre. Macdonald has seen much success across the ocean in England and Scotland (her origin) where her 2007 album reached number one on pop charts. Although Scottish most reviews consider her to sing, in a more Irish style and sound. The album is being published through rock ridge records, a multi faceted record company producing multiple independent artists and some main stream. The first thing that stands out when you start this album with Mr. Rock and Roll is the beautiful voice of Mrs. Macdonald. Her raspy yet tantalizing voice carries well with multi instrument band. The tracks are catchy, danceable, sing-along, and consistently decent.
- My only objection to the album is that the album’s tracks can become repetitive in their sound. The rhythm and/or sound seem similar throughout the album. Although this is the case, the lyrics and good music keeps you interested. Another nice thing is that the young artist, only 20, writes most of her music.
- My favorite track is A Wish for Something More, a track that adds a bit of funk rift to alter the reoccurring sound. Below you will find to videos from you tube to help you decide.
